One and done’s have become a regular occurrence in college basketball where players will play one season with a program and then take the quantum leap to the National Basketball Association. Tuesday, Tennessee Volunteers point guard Kennedy Chandler declared he would be the third in the Rick Barnes era to go one and done at UT.
He proved to be every bit of his five-star ranking coming into his freshman season with the Vols and helped lead the team to a 27-8 overall record as well as the program’s first SEC Title since 1979.
Chandler played the second-most minutes on the team and was one of two players to play over 1,000 minutes this past season. In addition, he led the team in scoring at 13.9 ppg, assists with 4.7 per game, as well as over two steals per game.
Chandler truly got better every step of the way throughout the season’s journey and he really developed much more confidence in his jump shot as well as his ability to take over the game when he needed to.
He’ll have a chance to be a solid NBA prospect as he continues to develop as a person and as a player.
Here’s his farewell message to Vol Nation via his Instagram account…
All the best to you Kennedy at the next level and at every turn of life thereafter Vol Nation will certainly miss you.
