The Braves Hall of Fame third basemen, Chipper Jones claims that Freeman is unhappy with the Braves extension offers and is “frustrated” that a deal was not made during the previous season.
In an interview with 92.9 the Game, Jones added that Freeman is “He’s being courted by some of the prettiest girls on the block right now, and he’s gonna listen to them.”.
It’s fair to assume that the aforementioned “pretty girls” are the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees as both teams have a reported interest in the all-star first basemen. Both franchises also are not afraid to drop serious money in order to bolster their rosters.
Jones also acknowledged Freeman’s home-town connection the West Coast in his free-agency decision.
“The bottom line is, Freddie I believe before it’s all said and done will be playing where he wants to play. I know he’s a West Coast guy.” Jones said. “I know he has a home here in Atlanta. But Freddie, if he wants to play for the Atlanta Braves, he will be playing for the Atlanta Braves. I’ll leave it at that.”
Freeman was a key component in the Braves’ improbable 2021 World Series Run. He has been a cornerstone of the Braves franchise since he was drafted in 2010.

If Freeman does leave the Braves, it has been speculated that the organization will attempt to acquire Anthony Rizzo as a replacement.
The MLB is still in a lockout and the outlook for the 2022 season is beginning to look more grim by the day. It is expected that Freeman will sign with his desired team shortly following the resumption of league activities.
