Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones joined Greg Larnerd on The Word With G Thursday leading up to the Super Bowl from Radio Row in Los Angeles.
When G asked him what the biggest difference between the team this season that’s readying to play in Super Bowl 56 and the ones he played on five times over when he was in Cincinnati who failed to win a single postseason game under Marvin Lewis was the quarterback aka Andy Dalton was not good enough for them to win.
“This team is totally different starting with the quarterback…Joe is playing at a high level, he’s been playing at a high level, he’s a winner.” He would add that he’s not trying to compare every aspect of the teams but the quarterback is definitely a difference-maker.
“The quarterback position is the biggest difference, I truly think that you have to have a stud a quarterback to get to this day to even be talking about it” Pacman would go on to reiterate how important the QB position is and then said, “that’s the leader of the team and the offense to get guys in different positions to make different plays.”
Now, I don’t want to mix his words because he didn’t specifically mention Andy Dalton by name but if you read between the lines he’s essentially saying that the team’s he played on, which were led by Andy Dalton, didn’t have good enough QB play/leadership from the position.
He does make a very fair point, when doing some research on Dalton in the postseason the numbers are not good…
Dalton was the starter for four of the five years Pacman played in the playoffs with the Bengals and during that time he threw for an average of 218 yards, a 55.7% competition percentage, was sacked 12 times, threw one touchdown, and six interceptions, and of course, went 0-4.
