The season finished, officially, at 7-6 for the Tennessee Volunteers but boy was it an exciting first season under new head coach Josh Heupel and short of a bowl victory it went about as well as any of us could have hoped it would. Despite the thrilling 48-45 loss to the Purdue Boilermakers, it was still a helluva season with much to be excited about in the near future.
The team found a very competent quarterback in Hendon Hooker who ended up being extremely dynamic, the wide-outs were explosive, the running game was solid, and the defense didn’t give up a million points.
Some of the highlights of the season were blowing out both Missouri and South Carolina in back-to-back weeks and an exhilarating victory at Kentucky late in the season.
While the 2021 Music City Bowl didn’t conclude with a Vols victory it did provide a ton of excitement and our very own Greg Larnerd (Host of The Word With G 12-2p EST Monday-Friday on ESPN Chattanooga) was on-site to experience it all up close and personal.
The trip included visiting with many excited UT fans, experiencing a little tailgating, and even chopping it up with enemy Purdue fans, as well as some in-game highlights up close and personal.
Take a look back at the trip right here:
In addition, Greg got an opportunity to provide some sideline reports during the game, check him out on the field right after the Vols fell in overtime to Purdue:
