The Vols will debut a new all-black kit which will be on full display this Saturday against South Carolina.
In what the Vols are calling the “dark mode” uniforms, the jersey and pants will be all back with some orange lettering and minor white detail across the SEC logo.

The helmets will stick with the signature white and orange look, as will any gloves used throughout the game. This has some fans disappointed as they were hoping for a total black-out across the board.
The last time Tennessee opted for black uniforms was in 2009 and only featured black jerseys.
Jake Moore’s Take:
Alternate uniforms are one of those weird things in sports that I absolutely eat up. There is this distinct novelty to seeing something new come out onto the field, court, pitch, or where ever they are playing. This uniform specifically is something I love to see. The black pants were a nice touch as I was a little worried they would just go for the orange pants like they did in 09′. Hopefully, Tennessee comes out and plays as good as these uniforms look on Saturday.
Greg Larnerd’s Take:
I love the Black jerseys, they give the team an edge at least from an apparel standpoint. The black just always stands out, doesn’t matter which sport you’re talking about, baseball, basketball, or football. It’s a fun alternative to the regular white or grey jerseys we see and I’m a huge fan with the orange mixed it
Malcom “Miggy” Harris’ Take:
I personally would love the all black helmet look but I think it’s long overdue. Love the sleekness of it. I’m a fan of bringing the gray back too but the all blacks look amazing. Personally, the helmet is nice but all black is what I want next. I know the fan base is divided but it looks good to me! I want the helmet to stay but for our normal uni’s – I love the T cut out.
Chase Green’s Take
I’m a huge fan. I like the change up and adding in a little more flare to the home SEC opener. And it’s a nice little throw back to the 2009 South Carolina Halloween game.
