The Atlanta Braves are going to be busy with their roster over the weekend as they soon welcome the arrival of newly acquired outfielder Joc Pederson who isn’t in the lineup on Friday. In addition, they’ve made another move to put one of their more consistent pitchers this season on the injured list in Ian Anderson, and in a corresponding move, they’ve activated 25-year-old Touki Toussaint from the 60 day IL.
The #Braves today reinstated RHP Touki Toussaint from the 60-day injured list and placed RHP Ian Anderson on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to July 13, with right shoulder inflammation.

As mentioned, Anderson has been having a solid sophomore campaign for the Braves this season. He’s pitched to a 3.56 ERA over 96 innings of work he’s 5-5 through 18 starts and he’s struck out 98 batters while walking 39. Hopefully, he won’t need to miss much time with the shoulder inflammation as the Braves attempt to stay in the NL East race.
Now, as for Toussaint, he hasn’t yet pitched in 2021 but throughout his Braves career, he’s been a bit of a disappointment. Over the first three years of his career, he’s pitched to a 6-3 record with a 5.97 ERA bouncing between being a starter and a reliever. He’s started 11 games and has come out of the bullpen 27 times but it seems as though this time around he’ll be starting in Anderson’s spot according to David O’Brien of The Athletic.
#Braves plan to start Touki Toussaint on Tuesday against San Diego, Brian Snitker said.

Getting the opportunity to start again will be good for Toussaint but against the Slam Diego Padres might be a bit of a difficult task, it might depend upon how he fares if he gets another start after this one.
