A week after securing his first World Series ring, Freddie Freeman is officially a free agent–and a highly coveted one at that.
ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel released his batch of free-agent rankings and Freeman is ranked at the third spot and is the highest-ranked first basemen of this free-agent class. Above him are SS’s Carlos Correa and Corey Seager.
“Freeman is about to hit free agency when that deck has been stacked against first basemen and players over 30 for years.” McDaniel says of Freeman “Freeman rises above the fray because of his nine-year streak of three-plus-win seasons, with a peak of six wins, two five-win seasons, and the 2020 NL MVP.”
While most analysts and fans theorize that Freeman will return to the Braves, a cryptic Instagram post posted on Sunday has caused some hiccups in the confidence.
Freeman and the Braves GM, Alex Anthopolous have both expressed interest in keeping the superstar in Atlanta. Dansby Swanson also expressed interest in seeing the superstar return during a speech at the World Series parade in Atlanta. Freeman was also seeing mouthing “Let’s run it back next year” to Ronald Acuña following the Braves World Series win.
