The Red Bank Lions boys basketball team remained perfect this season on the road as they traveled to Walker Valley on Tuesday night and came away with an impressive and hard-fought 59-54 win.
The game was tight early on as the Mustangs made a push towards the end of the first half to tie the game at 37 but the Lions would end up snatching the lead back on a buzzer three-pointer to grab back a 40-37 lead. Anthony Bonner had it going early and often in the first-half carrying Red Bank offensively.
As the second half opened up, Red Bank went on a quick 4-0 run to increase their lead to 44-37 and the Mustangs could never seem to regain any control as they would close the gap and then the Lions would answer back.
The game did get tight towards the end as Walker Valley hit a couple of three-pointers to pull within one at 55-54 but then the Lions broke out for a quick transition bucket and their defense locked up on the other end to seal their seventh victory of the season. Anthony Bonner finished with 14 points but it was really a balanced scoring attack for the Lions on Tuesday.
With the win, Red Bank is 7-2 overall with a perfect 5-0 record on the road and for Walker Valley, with the loss they fell to 6-4 overall with a 1-2 record at home.
