High flying offense will be the name of the game on December 30th at Nissan Stadium as the Tennessee Volunteers and Purdue Boilmakers are slated for the TransPerfect Music City Bowl in Nashville.
“Whether you’re a fan of Tennessee or Purdue, or just a general college football fan in Nashville, this is going to be an exciting game to watch.” Music City Bowl CEO Scott Ramsay said.
Tennessee finished the season 7-5 and averaged 459 yards per game while Purdue finished 8-4 averaging 424 yards of offense per game.
This will be the third appearance for the Volunteers in the Music City Bowl. They lost to North Carolina in 2010 and beat Nebraska in 2016. Purdue was crushed by Auburn in the 2018 bowl game.
“The opportunity to get coach (Josh) Heupel’s first bowl game at Tennessee and the chance to have a lot of fans attend the game from Tennessee’s perspective is a really exciting thing for us.” Ramsay said.
Tennessee comes into this game as the on-paper favorite given the fact they played tougher competition and scored more points doing so. Additionally, this will essentially be a massive home-game for the Vols as fans across the state have rejuvenated hopes for this football program.
Historically the Music City Bowl draws major crowds and the fact that Tennessee is a participant will certainly inflate that attendance number.
